JANUARY 2008
Message from the President
It is my great privilege and joy to serve you as President of KAMA for the year 2008. I have been waiting for this opportunity for many years. While I may be the youngest President to assume the grand responsibilities in this critical period of KAMA¡¯s history, my deep involvement with KAMA and eagerness to make a real difference make me qualified for this position. My involvement with KAMA first began in 2000. At the request of Dr. Matthew Whang, who was then the acting Secretary General, I accepted the position of Treasurer and attended KAMA¡¯s annual convention in Las Vegas. It was a memorable experience, meeting both fellow Korean-American physicians from all over the country as well as distinguished guests from Korea. Since that year, I have served KAMA under numerous capacities, including Secretary-General, Convention Chair and Executive-VP. I have seen and experienced the ins-and-outs of what this organization has gone through and I have a sense of what KAMA needs to survive and thrive. Building upon the visionary leadership and diligent work of immediate past President Dr. Chung T Chung, KAMA now has new bylaws, a solid foundation upon which work can be done more efficiently and productively. In the coming twelve months, indeed a short period of time to make drastic improvements to existing systems, I nevertheless promise you that I will continue to seek ways to guide KAMA in the right direction. To that end, some of the goals I have planned during my year as President are:
In return, I ask you, the first generation KAMA members to whom I have the utmost respect and the younger U.S. graduate KAMA members in whom I have full confidence, to continue to support KAMA. I sincerely believe that if we work together we can make a significant difference to preserve and pass on KAMA¡¯s 30-year legacy to the next generation of Korean origin in this country. Daniel Y. Kim, MD In Recent News:
