ABOUT KAMA
YEAR 2010

Message from The President

Dear Members, Friends and Colleagues,

It is an honor for me to be your 2010 KAMA President.  I am very excited for the upcoming year, particularly as the first 2nd generation president in KAMA’s history.  First, on behalf of the 2010 KAMA Executive Committee and Board of Directors, I wanted to thank Dr. Edmund Kim and the 2009 Executive Committee for their hard work last year.  Second, I would like to share with you my goals for the upcoming year and let you know about our plans for the annual meeting.  I have a number of goals, but the major ones are to promote the ongoing fellowship between Korean-American physicians, expand the national presence and participation of KAMA, continue the relationship with our Korean colleagues, and foster community outreach programs.

The KAMA Annual Convention is our signature event and an opportunity for our organization to grow through fellowship and scholarship.  We announce that the 28th Annual KAMA Convention and Scientific Program will held on the Queen Mary 2, to set sail on Thursday, July 1st, 2010 from New York City and sailing to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Boston and returning to New York on July 6th.  The program will feature outstanding presentations by leaders in a variety of medical fields, including surgery, oncology, general medicine and global healthcare.   Details of the preliminary program will be available shortly.

Once again this year KAMA will be offering merit-based scholarships to medical students to support both research and community outreach interests.  I encourage all members to spread the word to worthy candidates as well as directing donations to the KAM Foundation that supports this worthy cause.

KAMA will continue to expand national participation with local chapters in Georgia, Maryland/D.C./Virginia and Seattle, Washington at the annual meeting.  In addition, we will continue our close relationship to our Korean colleagues through the Korean Medical Association and Korean Hospital Association.

Sincerely,

Bernard Park, M.D.

2010 KAMA President
